Our continuous focus on vocational education and professional opportunity allows us to produce graduates who can meet the challenges of today’s workplace.

Through our Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute (www.lsbu.ac.uk/business/expertise/entrepreneurship-innovation-institute), also known as Student Enterprise, LSBU motivate, connect, challenge and develop our students’ and graduates’ enterprise skills and entrepreneurial mind-set. As well as support during their academic studies, we also provide them with a full programme of activities, including workshops, events, competitions, etc.

The Institute also supports academic staff to professionally develop as enterprise educators and embed enterprise into the curriculum.

London South Bank University has been recognised for our entrepreneurial activity and we have recently been awarded the Times Higher Education Awards for Entrepreneurial University of the year 2016.

Thanks to this experience and to its ambition to deliver outstanding economic, social and cultural benefits, LSBU have been delivering several ERDF funded projects, offering business support programmes to start-ups and small enterprises (Investment Escalator, the Momentum programme, Enterprise Steps and dek). Through ERDF funded projects, we also provide focused and specialised business support to Greentech companies (A2i project), Digital Healthtech companies (SimdH) and Agri-food companies (LAFIC).

Finally, through the EC funded Fresh Start project, LSBU replicate and adapt our successes in entrepreneurship education and practice and our expertise in migration and refugees and support migrants that want to start a business in London.

We have been an active component in the start-up community for many years and mentor, train, support and consult for start-ups in London and across Europe.
We believe very strongly in the value of enterprise education, and that it has an increasingly important role in traditional education systems. Because of this we try to contribute to the design, development and delivery of enterprise education as it evolves to match the environment that itself is changing ever more quickly for young people. Practical experience, the opportunity to experiment in a live situation, and making use of a simple reflection development process are what we try to offer – and if that doesn’t work, well we will try again with something else.
